James Redeker is the youngest child of Dutch immigrant parents who moved to Canada in 1953, landing at Pier 21 in Halifax. Both his parents grew up in Haarlam, Holland, and survived the ‘hunger-winter’ of 1944. James was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and is married to Linda Oakley.

James has been involved in Aviation since Summer of 1991, and more specifically working in Flight Dispatch since Fall of 1997. Most recently James was hired by Canadian North Airlines to set up and manage their Flight Dispatch department, which became fully operational in April 2007. James reports directly to Laval St. Germain, Director of Flight Operations, for Canadian North.

James hobbies include photography and sometimes drawing (although photography has really pushed that aside). James and Linda enjoy hiking and make multiple visits to the Canadian Rockies each year. James also enjoys playing pool, cards, and the occasional game of chess, although he claims to be grossly out of practice.

James is going to speak about Flight Operations in the Canadian Arctic, with specific discussions on local culture, geography, and (of course – for our American and foreign friends) the weather, and how these factors affect our day-to-day operations. James will introduce his airline, the aircraft it flies, and where it operates. James will provide insight into areas of Canada which most have never seen, and even fewer can pronounce.
