Major (retd) Jean Yves St Denis enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1984. During his career he was assigned to posts in Western Canada, Germany, Belgium, Rwanda, Quebec and the National headquarters in Ottawa.

In 1994-95 Major St Denis served with General R Dallaire as the Logistics specialist for the peacekeeping mission in Rwanda. During this one year assignment, he was also the Executive Assistant to the Force Commander. Upon promotion to Major in 1997 he was assigned to Land Staff in Ottawa.

In 1998, he completed his degree in Political Science at the University of Ottawa as part of the CF's sponsor program. In 1999, he was posted on an exchange program for six months as OC of a British Supply Sqn in Germany. Later in 2000, he transferred to NATO HQ in Brussels and worked in a program management office as senior advisor in Integrated Logistics Support for the Airborne Ground Surveillance Program.

His last assignment was in Calgary as the G4 of 41 CBG and Commanding Officer of 41 CGB Headquarter. Upon retirement in April 2005 Major St Denis accepted a position with Shell Canada as the Senior Analyst for Supply Chain Management. He also worked as Manager for Supply Chain and Logistics for Suncor's Voyageur Project.

Major St Denis also holds a Graduate Certificate Degree in Management from Boston University, Brussels campus; a Master Certificate in Project Management from Lethbridge University and a Certificate in Administration from the Universite du Quebec, tele-universite. He has been a recognized Professional Logistician from the Logistics Institute in Toronto since 2002.

He often lectures high school students on Rwanda at the Calgary Military Museums and also has round table discussions on PTSD with military units and civilian organizations.

Today due to a long standing battle with PTSD Major (retd) St Denis is fully retired and makes himself available for conferences on Rwanda and PTSD. His hope is to be available to people afflicted with this illness and help them navigate towards recovery.
